This position will provides senior operational leadership and direction for the development and growth of the Budget and Contracting team of the Clinical Trial Shared Resources (CTSR) at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC).
In partnership with the Assistant Director of Budget and Finance for VICC and the Revenue Management Manager for the CTSR, this position will oversee and ensure successful delivery and execution of clinical trial budgets, payment term negotiation of the clinical trial agreements, and financial review of coverage analysis.
Deliverables will be measured in the following manner: All pre-award financial activities including, hiring of sufficient staff, trial budget and financial review oversight, feasibility assessments, and annual assessment of research charge master for the CTSR. Detailed responsivities will include:
Responsible for budget development and negotiation for all industry and other non-federal studies with negotiable study budgets. Work with the sponsor and/or Contract Research Organization (CRO) to ensure all Vanderbilt cost to conduct the research study is covered.
Thoroughly reviews complex study protocols, Informed Consent Documents (ICD), draft sponsor Clinical Trial Agreements (CTA), and budgets to identify all billable items and services required of the study which might generate a CPT code.
Works collaboratively with the Principal Investigator (PI), Clinical Trial Managers, and ancillary departments to identify all the costs associated with the research study.
Assists the study team in determining how to operationalize the billable items and procedures.
Works collaboratively with the study team and the Vanderbilt research community to determine study team effort and research administrative costs.
Function independently and proactively with strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
Effectively prioritizes tasks, and follows-up to ensure completion of studies in a compliant and timely manner.
Meets departmental performance metrics.
Effectively applies problem solving, negotiation, and continuous quality improvement methods in daily operations.
