The hearing and speech department at the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center d iagnoses and treats hearing, speech, language and cognitive problems that affect communication. Our team of more than 100 experts includes audiologists, speech-language pathologists, teachers of the deaf, occupational therapists, physical therapists and social workers. We offer every patient compassionate, personalized care.
In rewarding and pivotal role, your duties will consist of but will not be limited to the following:
Assessment and intervention serving children birth to 21 years in most areas addressed under the speech pathology scope of practice, but definitely including Autism Spectrum Disorders, general language and articulation needs, pediatric TBI, AAC use, and Behavior Management
Counseling of families, consultation with physicians, educators and other professionals serving our patients.
Documentation of services and contacts within the electronic medical record (based on facility timeline standards) which will support billing for services
Participation within specialty groups
Graduate Student clinical teaching and supervision associated with personal patient schedule
Completes full diagnostic hearing assessments using the appropriate testing method and equipment for the patient type, diagnosis, and reason for referral.
Formulates and/or implements a treatment plan to address deficits and patient/family areas of concern.
Completes documentation in a timely manner.
Provides education/consultation to patient, family, health care team and community.
Enhances and impacts our knowledge of the nature of communicative and related disorders.
Supervision and instruction of audiology doctoral students.

AUDIOLOGY PATIENT EVALUATION : - Obtains pertinent information to appropriately assess the patient. Administers appropriate hearing assessment per the clinical protocol. Interprets the results of the assessment and their significance for the patient, family, referring physician and other members of the health care team. Demonstrates basic knowledge and skills development in audiometric assessment across the age range. Consideration will be given for applicants with additional basic knowledge and skills development in any of the following area: infant hearing screening and audiometric estimation, hearing aid assessment/fitting and bone anchored implants.
AUDIOLOGY TREATMENT IMPLEMENTATION : - Includes objectives based upon the results of the assessment and input from the patient and family. Selects interventions which produce the desired outcomes within the time frame projected. Modifies the treatment plan if patient/family is/are not receiving benefit. Incorporates educational needs for patient and family. Includes patient and family in all aspects of care. Respects roles and professional boundaries of others.
REHAB THERAPIST PATIENT DOCUMENTATION : - Demonstrates proficiency in documentation practices. Documents in the appropriate templates and utilizes only approved abbreviations within patient documentation. Meets institutional standards for quality and timeliness of documentation.
AUDIOLOGY PATIENT EDUCATION : - Communicates functional impact of assessment findings, treatment interventions, diagnosis, and disease process. Adapts communication to the level of understanding of the patient. Determines comprehension and need for repetition and/or revision of methods.

· Masters Degree from a CAA Accredited Program
· Tennesse licensure or confirmation of Tennessee licensure to be in place prior to start date
· 1 year of related experience
· State-issued Audiology license
· ASHA certification
Tennessee Licensure or confirmation of Tennessee Licensure to be in place prior to start date.
NO less than 1 year of experience in pediatric service provision within the last 3 years
Flexibility measured through attitude and willingness to meet patient and departmental needs in a timely manner

Proficient Technical Report Writing Skills
Patient schedule of NO LESS than 35 out of 40 hours, with group therapy a possibility
Possible Travel to satellite locations to provide services
