PRIMARY PURPOSE: Oversee the activities of the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center, including the structure and function, marketing, course curriculum and assessment of the simulation center and it courses.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversee and manage the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center
Coordinate the use of the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center by various internal and external groups
Assist in maintaining the equipment in the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center and assuring adequate supplies for simulation courses and activities.
Marketing the use of the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center to outside groups, such as CPEP, residencies, First Responder organizations, etc.
Participate in curriculum development, assessment and modification in the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center as a part of the college’s ongoing quality improvement and assessment program.
Direct the education and instruction of medical students and other health care professional students in the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center while providing mentorship and motivation for learning in research and scholarly activity through active learning groups, laboratory experience and research opportunities.
Provide service to the university community and students through serving on COM and department committees, providing leadership, mentorship and expertise to students, participating in community outreach events and with professional organizations or groups as assigned by the Dean or Department Chair.
Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students, residents and other health care professionals in the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center by providing feedback and remedial assistance to ensure that the students of the COM meet the standards established by the faculty and college and obtain the knowledge, skills and competency established.
Provide administrative leadership, faculty mentorship and development for junior members of the faculty, staff and students.
Participate in the assessment or evaluation of and provide feed back to other members of the faculty as a portion of the college’s ongoing quality improvement and assessment program.
Advance the perceived value of and output of research and scholarly activity among the faculty and students of the COM through leadership, mentorship and participation.
Maintain a personal and professional development plan and portfolio, including documentation of teaching, professional development activities and plans, service provided to college and communities, scholarly activity and research to assure personal growth and continued competency with specialty field.
Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional actions and performance.
Demonstrate and role model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors and support staff.
Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the university and college in fulfilling its mission and vision though teaching, academic administrative duties, and community service and/or perform special duties as assigned.
Advance the prestige of the University and College through advancement of and avocation for its mission and vision.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean or his/her designee.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the delivery of medical education through simulation
Demonstrated knowledge of varied curriculum templates in simulation
Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate students and peers
Demonstrate ability to reach out to community partners in marketing the RVUCOM ACS-AEI Comprehensive Simulation Center
Board Certification in Surgery and Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons
Demonstrated leadership and productivity in the areas of clinical or professional service, scholarly activity, medical research and education.
Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies.
Eligible for coverage by college’s malpractice insurer, if applicable.
Experience in teaching in a College of Osteopathic Medicine, an allopathic medical school or in graduate medical education in the field of simulation

About Rocky Vista University
Rocky Vista University's Southern Utah campus in Ivins opened in July 2017.
The 32-acre Southern Utah Campus is located in Ivins – approximately 20 minutes from St. George, the largest city in Southern Utah. The two-story, 104,000 square foot building will complement the natural scenery of the area. It includes two 200-seat lecture halls, three seminar rooms, 36 breakout or study rooms, a clinical skills and OPP lab, a full dissection gross anatomy lab, a multi-purpose lab, a simulation center, standardized patient rooms, and a 8,950 square foot library. The school seats approximately 125 students each year.
This campus also includes a 23,000 square foot medical office building across the street, which will house administrative offices and a future medical clinic. Additionally, the Southern Utah Veterans Home, adjacent to the campus, provides students with a continuity of care experience.
