Our department purchases the services, supplies, and equipment which supports education, research and patient care. Our mission is to collectively support the purpose and goals of Vanderbilt University Medical Center by purchasing quality products, equipment and services at competitive prices, payment management of vendor invoices, payment cards and travel by providing excellent customer service that meet or exceed the Medical Center's requirements, and to perform our services to the highest ethical and professional standards.
Purchasing includes 14 team members; Disbursements includes 18 members supporting invoice processing, payment, travel and payment cards; Supply Chain Systems team includes 4 members supporting PMM, OptiFlex/POU, eProcurement and PeopleSoft.
Support the purchasing and review of the commodities maintenance, repairs, freight, office supplies, office documentation storage, utilities and other commodities as assigned.
Daily resolution of PO/invoice exceptions.
Uploading of contracts to contract database.
Reviews and obtains necessary information for new vendors or changes.
Review and follow up on open and/or back orders.
Support vendor relationships lead by the VUMC Sourcing team.
Customer Service to departments supported
Other projects as assigned
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Procures supplies, equipment, services and merchandise; requests price quotes; proposals and negotiates contracts.
Processes requisitions and issues purchase orders; expedites deliveries; resolves receiving and invoicing problems.
Responsible for managing existing contracts and supplier relations.
Assists all customers to clarify requirements, proposes sourcing options; evaluates and recommends the best sourcing solution.
Expands professional development through related classes and seminars, current publications and regional/national association membership participation.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
