Follows established procedures to perform routine and STAT clinical laboratory testing in all areas of the laboratory.
Accurately reads, interprets, records, and maintains records of patient testing.
Learns new procedures/assignments in a timely manner,
Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all technical procedures in the department and operation of all instrumentation.
Makes sound decisions consistent with departmental policies and procedures and handles situations not covered by written or verbal instructions appropriately.
Routinely reviews pending reports and investigates and manages all outstanding specimen/test issues and delays.
Consults with or apprises CLS, Manager, or Medical Director regarding matters beyond own scope of responsibility or knowledge.
Performs other tasks as assigned by the Manager or Director.
Ability to complete the duties and responsibilities of this position accurately and efficiently regardless of the pressures of the environment.
Sufficient technical knowledge and skills as defined by CLIA 88 - Testing personnel to support the needs of the organization.
Verbal and written communication skills to support the efficient and effective transfer of data/information.
In order to demonstrate competency in serving acute care, and critical care patients, the employee must demonstrate the skills/knowledge/resources of the laboratory services population specific learning module.
Demonstrated baseline competency meets standard in all areas of the indicated skill rosters.
