Mental Health Tech (MHT)

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital is an 86 bed inpatient psychiatric hospital in Panama City, Florida which provides treatment options to children, adolescents, adults, active duty service members and their families, and Veterans. Our specialized multidisciplinary treatment services are provided by highly trained psychiatrists, therapists, addiction counselors, nurses, and activities therapists. Panama City, FL is located on the panhandle of northwest Florida on beautiful St. Andrews Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Emerald Coast Behavioral Health is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS).

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescent through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. MHTs work under the direct supervision of a RN.

 Essential Job Duties:

• Provides hands-on physical care, supervision, crisis intervention, behavior management, & behavior modification, employing appropriate verbal and crisis intervention techniques.
• Conducts patient rounds and reports deviations from the expectations and standards
• Maintains professional therapeutic boundaries with patients and families.
• Leads therapeutic MHT groups
