ResponsibilitiesUnder the general supervision of the Chief Pharmacy Officer, Pharmacy Purchasing Manager manages the purchasing, contract administration, and inventory control processes for the procurement and distribution of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and other products used in the provision of pharmaceutical services; manages relationship with primary wholesaler and other vendors. This individual is responsible for the oversight and compliance with the purchasing aspects of the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including management of the split billing software. This position is responsible for drug shortages oversight and implementation, execution and monitoring of pharmacy cost savings initiatives. Supervises the pharmacy storeroom personnel, and ensures that receiving and distributing product follows the Federal, State, University and Departmental guidelines.
Qualifications California license to practice pharmacy
Knowledge of purchasing practices (including determination of needs, selection of items, bid letting and stores management) sufficient to develop and maintain procedures and purchasing programs.
Four years of experience in a similar healthcare system as a pharmacist
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and professional staff.
Ability to set priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
Ability to perform job requirements with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
Ability to complete assigned duties in a time-efficient manner.
Ability to communicate orally on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and to persuade others to accept or adopt a specific opinion or action.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to the practice of pharmacy.
Knowledge of and compliance with California State Board of Pharmacy, University of California, and federal rules and regulation governing pharmacy.
