The risk management analyst works with members of the Risk Management Department and physicians, nurses, and leadership on processes and strategies related to risk management. Coordinates and facilitates the investigation of risk management concerns identified through the risk reporting system and other risk review processes. Provides support on risk management processes to assist the risk management team, leadership and organizational committees in their pursuit of proactive risk management strategies to improve patient safety.
Responsible for assisting the risk manager/director in the development, maintenance and monitoring of the risk management program.
Applies best practices to assist in the development, implementation, and administration of system-wide plans to improve patient safety and reduce organizational risk, including financial and reputation loss.
Analyzes and trends occurrence reporting data, and other data sources, providing related information to leaders.
Reviews medical records to evaluate patient care and identify possible risk exposures.
Conducts rounds to effectively gather/provide information, feedback and resources.
Provides timely and accurate information to patients and families in a tactful manner.
Participates on committees, councils, work groups and initiatives to assist in providing risk management expertise and direction.
Conducts investigations, as directed by risk director/manager, to improve patient safety, reduce the risk of harm.
Engages in continual professional-growth activities, including enhancement of personal knowledge regarding developments in patient safety, risk and quality.
Participates in an on-call schedule for the handling of off-hour questions, concerns, issues and events.
Assists with conducting staff in-service training related to risk management topics.
Collaborates with clinical teams to develop strategies to prevent medical error and reduce loss.
* If possesses a clinical background, must maintain current licensure/certification
* Two (2) years or more experience in one of the following areas: patient care, health care risk management, patient safely, health care claims management, process improvement or quality * Registered nurse preferred
* Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
