The Henry Ford Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks multiple board-certified subspecialty surgical pathologists to support a multitude of rapidly growing clinical programs in the Henry Ford Health System. Desired areas of expertise include breast, head and neck, pulmonary, gastrointestinal/liver, renal pathology and neuropathology. Pathology is notable as a cohesive, friendly and collegial employed group practice of the Henry Ford Medical Group, the nation’s 3rd largest clinic-based group practice. The ideal applicant would be a compatible fit and have a strong interest in resident education, and clinical or translational research.
The Pathology Department is an integrated service line overseeing laboratory testing at 6 system hospitals, 36 clinic delivery sites, and a large outreach program. It is further recognized as the world's leading Lean management laboratory enterprise and the only ISO 15189 accredited laboratory in Michigan. The Department is both subspecialized and community-based, serving as a major teaching affiliate of Wayne State University School of Medicine and supporting a combined AP/CP residency and fellowships in Medical Genetics and Informatics. It is composed of 42 senior staff pathologists and clinical scientists, complemented by 720 technical staff, with annual case volumes of 40 million clinical laboratory tests, over 160,000 surgical pathology specimens, 80,000 cytopathology cases and over 30,000 molecular & cytogenetic tests. Pathology oversees a Research Biorepository that houses over 70,000 frozen specimens. The Department has 9 board certified molecular pathology staff in the Division of Molecular Pathology and Genomic Medicine who oversee comprehensive NGS analysis of hereditary and neoplastic diseases and provide mutation-specific therapeutic decision support through the Henry Ford Center for Precision Diagnostics. Both the Biorepository and Molecular operations support staff academic endeavors.
