Under limited supervision the CFO, provides direction, management and leadership for the strategic planning, corporate compliance, finance, treasury, banking, accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial reporting and information systems functions. In addition, this position has primary responsibility for financial reporting to CEO, Executive Team, Leadership Team and Residents; with secondary responsibilities to the Finance Committee of the Board in partnership with the CEO.
Has overall responsibility for all aspects of finance, treasury, banking, accounting, payroll, auditing, budgeting, financial reporting, and information systems functions for Epworth Villa.
Directs and manages the Accounting, Information Systems, including: ensuring compliance with corporate policies, procedures and internal controls; monitoring and evaluating the performance of staff; and recommending and implementing personnel actions.
Develops or oversees the development and implementation of internal control policies, guidelines and procedures for the Accounting, Payroll & Information Systems departments.
Establishes and maintains financial records systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Coordinates the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses and information reports.
Prepares and monitors conformance with annual budgets and long-term financial projections, and makes recommendations for corrective action when appropriate.
Provides strategic consultation and long-term planning recommendations to management on a broad range of issues, including, but not limited to, financial issues.
Maintains relationships with bankers, investment managers, bondholders and related outside parties.
In partnership with the CEO interacts with the Finance Committee of the Board and is the primary management contact for the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. In addition, this position has primary responsibility for financial reporting to residents.
Has responsibility for tax reporting, third-party cost reporting and reporting required by debt covenants.
Has final responsibility for the audit of the financial records of the organization and attests to the fair presentation of financial statements in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles applied on a consistent basis, with duties including, but not limited to, signing auditors’ and bondholders’ management representation letters and bond covenant compliance certificates.
Manages cash flow, invests funds within investment guidelines and monitors performance of fund managers consistent with best practices for the treasury function.
Annually reviews the adequacy of insurance coverage and maintains appropriate insurance coverage.
In partnership with the Human Resources Director serves as administrator of the Epworth Villa 401(k) plan.

Participates in the development of corporate goals and objectives, contributes extensively toward achievement of same, and positively contributes to inter-departmental quality initiatives and communications.
Monitors trends in field and innovative methods and implements or recommends new programs to insure the highest quality services in the future.
Meets regular and predictable attendance requirements.
Performs additional job duties as assigned and directed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (MBA preferred).
5+ years’ experience in public accounting or a senior financial managerial position in a Continuing Care Retirement Community preferred.
Advanced computer and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in MS Office.Must be compassionate and understanding when working with older adults, their families, attorneys, advisors, physicians, volunteers, and others. Able to speak well in public, be image oriented; be caring and concerned about the older adult population.
Must possess compassion, understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with residents, families, and work well with other staff in a cooperative, team environment. Must demonstrate an attitude of service to residents, family members, staff, and people from the community.
