Unique Opportunity for a Board Certified Eligible/Certified Ophthalmologist in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
This opportunity is ideal for the ophthalmologist who really wants to “make a difference” in an underserved area versus practicing in a highly competitive and saturated market.
The patient clientele is here and expanding. The practice performs over 1,000 cataract surgeries per year but would do more with the addition of another surgeon.
Given the nature of the area, the comprehensive ophthalmologist can have a very wide scope of practice and exposure to interesting pathology, with excellent support from neighboring subspecialists.
The practice has 2 offices, located in Iron Mountain and Escanaba, and it’s own attached private ophthalmic Ambulatory Surgery Center with two operating rooms. This enables the surgeon to be much more efficient with his or her time.
The equipment is state of the art, including Alcon Centurion phaco machines, an ORA aberrometer, and new Leica operating microscopes.
We have very few problems with HMO’s, managed care contracts, etc.
There is enough volume to support 2 ophthalmologists in addition to the existing ophthalmologist.
The existing ophthalmologist is willing to stay and transition the practice over the next 5 years.
It’s a wonderful place to raise a family, with excellent schools and many outdoor recreational activities minutes away. When a new MD joins our community, they like the area and lifestyle so much that they almost never leave.
The economics of high reimbursement vs. cost of living is unparalleled.
Transportation is excellent with daily direct jet service flights to Minneapolis and Detroit.
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is known for it's extensive coastline on the Great Lakes, it's beautiful waterfalls, and wide variety of recreational opportunities!
