Mercy Rehab Hospital is in search of a Therapy Manager. This person (TM) functions under the direction and supervision of the Director of Therapy (DT) and assumes responsibility for the Therapy Department. The TM in collaboration with the DT and leadership team assists to implement, interpret and assure compliance with policies and procedures, including regulatory and accreditation standards. The TM in collaboration with the leadership team leads program development and performance improvement activities. The TM is responsible for implementing hospital goals and objectives based on budget parameters. The TM reinforces the mission and vision of the hospital in all interactions.
Responsible for providing professional working conditions for employees.
Ensures the therapy department staff performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Assists with development of the budget for the therapy department in collaboration with the DT, CEO and CFO. Manages costs associated with personnel, equipment and supplies.
Responsible in collaboration with DT for staffing plans, management of therapy hours per patient day and quality of work of therapy staff.
Enforces compliance of the therapy department with education/in-service requirements/orientation and competencies .
Co-leads monthly staff meetings and communicates information to/from management and leadership.
Promotes rehabilitation philosophy and practice; encourages staff development, including development of specialty programs, stroke/spinal cord injury.
Assists to review and evaluate risk and quality indicators, patient satisfaction results, and outcomes in order to continually improve performance and outcomes; communicates this information to the therapy department.
Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and performance evaluations of staff in the therapy department with collaboration of the DT.
Assures occurrence of appropriate documentation, including documentation of skilled interventions, by therapists in medical records; monitors completion of all required documentation.
Assures education and training is provided to therapy co-workers on Functional Independent Measure (FIM); assures timely and accurate FIM assessments and scoring is performed.
Assures therapy attendance and participation in team conferences.
Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
Other duties as assigned.
Assures departments adhere to dress code, appearances are neat and clean, and proper identification is worn at all times.
Assures completion of annual education requirements and performance evaluations.
Ensures departments comply with patient confidentiality at all times.
Maintains, and assures that staff maintains, good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
Assures representation of the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Assures leadership and/or staff attendance at committee meetings, CQPI and management meetings, as appropriate.
Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level.
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, infection control and emergency management.
Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital.
Must have current State Licensure or certification as RPT and/or Speech Pathologist or OTR Certified by NBCOT
One year of management experience in rehabilitative medicine plus current BCLS certification.
