Holtz Children’s and Women’s Hospital is one of the largest academic children’s hospitals in the southeast United States and the only Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center located in southern Florida at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Miller School of Medicine. As a major referral center, Holtz Children's and Women’s Hospital not only provides medical and surgical services to a wide spectrum of our local population, but also to the most critically ill and high risk patients from across the nation and the international community.
Responsible for performing continuous care and management of mothers and babies throughout the maternity cycle in the Nurse Midwife Service of a county medical facility. Responsibilities include various clinical administrative, educational and some research duties which require licensure as a Registered Nurse Practitioner, as well as registration with the State Department of Health as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Incumbents perform care and management of patients as long as progress meets the criteria of normal as defined in the standing orders, policies and procedures of the facility. Employees exercise a considerable degree of professional knowledge and judgment in maintaining high standards of therapeutic care and in requesting medical assistance or early consultation when patients require complex nursing and obstetric procedures.
Florida licensed RN/ARNP or eligibility for licensure as Nurse Midwife/Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
Masters degree in Nursing or related field required.
National Board Certification in related field required (i.e. National Board Certification Nurse Midwife or Nurse Practitioner).
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.
Ability to demonstrate literacy in using computerized information systems.
