The Hospital Council of Northern and Central California is a nonprofit hospital and health system trade association representing more than 200 hospitals in 50 of California's 58 Counties - from Kern County to the Oregon border. Our membership ranges from small, rural hospitals to large, urban medical centers and represents more than 38,000 licensed beds. The Hospital Council’s mission is to help our member hospitals provide high quality health care and to improve the health of the communities they serve.
This position is primarily responsible for the budgeting, planning, and execution of the Hospital Council Conference. This includes meeting and program planning; budget development; prospecting event and meeting locations; on-site management of meeting and programs; serving as meeting and program registrar; monitoring revenue and expenses and maintaining accurate financial records. Other responsibilities include preparing correspondence; maintaining vendor mailing lists and coordinating department mailings; assisting with publication of the Hospital Council newsletter; contract and file maintenance; tracking and follow-up; report preparation; website maintenance; helping direct the work flow of administrative support staff; and general tasks in support of the Hospital Council’s strategic plan.
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, event management, business administration, or related field.
CMP or meeting planning certificate preferred.
At least five years of progressively responsible experience in meeting planning and management.
Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented and produce accurate work.
Must demonstrate professionalism and excellent customer service at all times
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials in a professional manner.
Ability to develop and maintain databases.
Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
Effective negotiation skills.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Must demonstrate initiative and good judgment.
Understanding of accounting fundamentals and ability to create and adhere to event budgets.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new software programs as required. Experience with HTML and Cvent software preferred.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license and insurance for travel to meetings and programs.
Requires travel up to 20 percent of work time, including some overnight stays.
