Community Behavioral Health Hospitals (CBHHs) in Annandale is seeking Certified Peer Specialists to join our team as State of Minnesota employee. CBHH is a small inpatient psychiatric facility providing rapid assessment and stabilization for adults experiencing an acute mental health episode.
The role of the Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) is to support patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in their recovery. These team members facilitate the development of recovery skills and supports individuals and learning teams by providing hope, encouragement, support, self-determination, and connection to the community. The CPS must be able to model wellness, personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness through appropriate sharing of their story, role modeling how needs individuals are respectfully met, and how a belief in one's self and recovery is maintained.
Job duties include:
Provide opportunities for individuals receiving integrated services to direct their own recovery process.
Reinforce and support acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate individual recovery.
Promote the knowledge of available service options and choices.
Promote the utilization of natural resources within the community when appropriate.
Facilitate the development of a sense of wellness and self-worth.
Support the recovering person.
Provide supportive services during times of patient crisis/relapse as assigned.
Teach and reinforce personal care/self-help, substance abuse recovery and relapse prevention skills, as indicated in the treatment plan.
Support facility operations through personal initiative, positive attitude, cooperation, and good work habits.
