Planning â€" Assists with the planning and yearly needs assessment for the unitâ€™s budget.
Under the supervision of the manager, monitors patient care activities within budget, monitors daily census and staff usage, monitors use of premium labor.
Cost Control â€" Identifies cost reduction opportunities on a regular basis and recommends implementation when necessary.
Capital Equipment/Procurement â€" Participates in the selection of vendors for needed services.
Department Charges â€" Oversees the daily charging process and assures staff education and participation in the appropriate assignment of patient charges, as applicable.
Displays positive traits and qualities needed for a successful supervisor; has the ability to work with changes in the environment and participate as a team player. Assures safe department operation between shifts.
Continuously strives to improve department services and organizational performance. Ensures smooth daily operations.
Gives feedback, within the scope of the supervisor position, and makes suggestions to staff in regards to behavior that is detrimental to:
Achievement of patient care goals and objectives.
Achievement of unit/department/organizational goals and objectives while keeping the manager informed of issues at all times.
Effectively delegates shift tasks and assignments to appropriate health care team members.
Accountable for own conduct and independent decisions made in the course of job performance.
Maintains a positive relationship with the Medical Staff and identifies opportunities to improve service relations.
Assists Director/Manager as needed with department operational responsibilities including accurate and timely input of employee hours and QA data collection.
