The Infection Preventionist (IP) helps to prevent healthcare-associated infections by isolating sources of infections and limiting their spread. The IP is responsible for surveillance, rounding, and analyzing, interpreting, and reporting all cases of infection. The IP supports the development of evidence-based organizational infection prevention policies/standards that meet state, federal, regulatory, and accrediting agencies standards; trains healthcare members in infection prevention; and serves as a resource, educator, researcher, and proponent of change in order to influence infection prevention improvement to provide quality healthcare within the organization.
RN Preferred, with RN licensure within the State of Pennsylvania; ASCP registration if a Clinical Lab Scientist or Med Tech
RN licensure within the State of Pennsylvania if an RN; ASCP registration if a Clinical Lab Scientist or Med Tech
CIC designation or acquisition within two years of hire
One to three years of experience in the principles of surveillance and infection prevention (aseptic technique, infectious disease, microorganisms, sterilization)
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
