The Precertification Coordinator assures that all inpatient admissions and partial hospitalization / intensive outpatient cases have been properly precerted and completed in a timely manner.Â In addition, the Precertification Coordinator assures that such precertificiations have been properly documented and communicated to appropriate personnel.Â The Coordinator also arranges for partial hospitalization / intensive outpatient start dates, once these cases have been precerted.Â The Coordinator also gathers daily, weekly, and monthly Process Improvement data from the admission packets that he/she uses to precertify cases.Â The Coordinator also provides back-up telephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.
