The Facilities Generalist routinely performs duties specific to the roles of: Environmental Services (EVS) and Facilities Maintenance (ENG); with a special focus on Environment of Care (EC) Rounding.
The base shift assignment of this position is 2nd Shift but includes the requirement to fill other shifts as needed.
The routine of the Facilities Generalist is highly active and primarily driven by environmental rounding; continually patrolling the interior and exterior of the facility, while capturing activities and observations in clearly detailed documentation.
In the capacity of Environment of Care (EC), the Facilities Generalistâ€™s competencies/responsibilities include but are not limited to: Effective monitoring of the hospitalâ€™s alignment with TJC EC.02.06.01; Loss prevention; Environmental hazard identification and mitigation; Hospitality/Customer service.
In the capacity of Environmental Services personnel, the Facilities Generalistâ€™s competencies/responsibilities include but are not limited to: Healthcare environment cleaning techniques and processes consistent with AHE guidance; Proactive responsiveness to general facility cleaning, waste management and soiled linen handling needs; Infection prevention; and Hazardous materials & waste management.
In the capacity of Building/Grounds Maintenance personnel, the Facilities Generalistâ€™s competencies/responsibilities include but are not limited to: Basic troubleshooting and repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, landscape/hardscape, voice & data systems, and electronic controls systems; Response to and entering work orders in the CMMS.Â
Additionally, the Facilities Generalist must possess a strong ability to remain calm and focused in a crisis situation (such as utility system outage) â€" to effectively execute critical mitigation, immediately contact support, and dispatch the appropriate resources.
