Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine are seeking a board certified or board eligible general thoracic surgeon to join our Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. This position will be based at the Hershey campus which is the major quaternary care medical center in central Pennsylvania.
The busy and growing thoracic surgical practice at Penn State Hershey offers expertise in the management of benign and malignant diseases of the lungs, esophagus, airway, chest wall, pleural space, diaphragm, and mediastinum. The surgeons offer a full spectrum of endoscopic procedures of the airway and esophagus. Minimally invasive surgical approaches, including laparoscopy, VATS, and robotics, are used for a significant proportion of procedures.
Applicants must possess a strong commitment to patient care, education, and clinical program development. The candidate should be proficient in all aspects of general thoracic surgery, including minimally invasive procedures. The successful candidate must be committed to an academic career, contributing to clinical research, scholarly work, and service missions of the Department of Surgery. A key component of this position involves teaching medical students, as well as residents in general surgery and thoracic surgery.
