ANALYST, RISK MANAGEMENT Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick, Georgia Full-Time Days
Coordinating and promoting risk-management activities throughout the health system, the professional we select will assist the director of Risk Management in planning, implementing, and maintaining risk-management programs to enhance patient safety, reduce patient injuries, and prevent patient claims. This individual will coordinate the resolution of issues related to risk-management policy, procedures, The Joint Commission, and regulatory bodies. Additional responsibilities include:
Providing risk-management assessment of processes, procedures and programs; and serving as a liaison between health system staff and the director of risk management.
Investigating risk exposures by following up with complainants; interacting with the Patient Experience Department designee; coordinating with multiple clinical and professional departments to resolve risk issues; reviewing medical records;
interviewing team members and medical staff; and consulting with the director of Risk Management.
Collecting, evaluating, and maintaining data concerning events, claims, and other risk-related occurrences.
Investigating and analyzing root causes and patterns or trends that could result in compensatory or sentinel events.
Developing monthly and quarterly reports on identified variance events and providing reports on risk trends.
Actively participating on committees related to risk management, medical ethics, quality improvement, and/or peer review.
Identifying events for the Peer Review Committee and preparing summaries, reviewing with the appropriate vice-chief or peer review chair, and facilitating Peer Review Committee meetings as needed.
Preparing blood functions and Pathology Committee reports and reviewing clinical issues with the director of the lab.
Reviewing Generic Indicator Reports and evaluating each issue for appropriate physician tagging and trends.
Providing education on risk-management topics as needed and/or requested.
Coordinating and assisting with risk-management projects as assigned.
Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing.
Current registered licensure for practice in the state of Georgia.
Five or more years of direct clinical patient care.
Effective interpersonal, verbal/written communication, risk-evaluation, and interviewing skills.
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, trends, and risk.
Risk management experience and/or certification in risk management.
