Responsible for leadership and management of the clinical program for patient care to adolescents and children ages 5-18 years of age and adults ages 18-65+ that is congruent with the philosophy and standards of practice defined by the Nursing Department. In collaboration with the Program Medical Director and the clinical staff, assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the program philosophy, goals and objectives, and treatment interventions. Responsible for census development and maintenance through organized and program-focused marketing activities. Externally, the incumbent will interface with licensing and accrediting agencies, family members and healthcare treatment agencies. Internally, the incumbent will interface with hospital management, staff and patients.
Knowledge of PHP and understanding of management principles, practices, methods, techniques, and skills in integrating management systems within an accurate mental healthcare setting
Knowledge of and extensive experience in mental health field, including etiology, evaluation, planning, and treatment interventions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships within the PHP, PIW environment, and the community.
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) in order to train, supervise staff, interact with multi-disciplinary team and to represent PIW on local/regional committees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with Program Medical Director and involves clinical staff members in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the clinical program and its philosophy.
Ensures program goals and objectives are consistent with overall hospital goals and objectives.
Develops foals, objectives, policies, and procedures related to the operational needs of the program.
Ensures all Clinical Department Managers collaborate in the development of program activities to assure an optimal therapeutic experience, physical activity, and adequate rest for patients.
Develops and supervises a system that ensures individual patients and their families are involved in the development of an individualized treatment plan. This system verifies multi-disciplinary involvement in meeting treatment goals.
Monitors the program budget and system for expenditure control and FTE management.
Is actively involved and aware of all patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Ensures that primary marketing emphasis is toward achieving full census and profitability. Personally spends 25-50% of his/her time in referral development activities.
Provides education, support, and recognition to staff participating in referral development activities.
Collaborates with the Director of Marketing in development and monitoring of marketing plan for the program.
Participates proactively in all program-based and hospital-wide marketing meetings.
Ensures that there is an ongoing system for program orientation for patients, families, professionals, and others.
In Coordination with the hospital's Human Resources Department, maintains and allocates adequate resources of well-qualified staff.
Assures that hiring, disciplinary action, and termination procedures are timely and conducted in accordance with hospital policy.
Defines staff responsibilities and assignments in writing.
Ensure that the staff schedule and configuration will meet the needs and demands of the patient population and census and adjusts it accordingly.
Program staff meetings are held on a regular basis and meeting minutes are posted and available to all staff.
Patient care planning and evaluation is organized with the participation of all clinical disciplines.
Ensures all patients, family, and referral complaints are promptly handled.
Ensures that the physical environment of the units is monitored for safety, cleanliness, and appearance and all deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner.
Evaluates achievement of program goals and objectives at least annually with participation of staff.
Ensures the program meets JCAHO and state regulatory requirements.
Develops and implements a Quality Assurance plan and evaluates the results monthly and reports as required to the Quality Assurance Committee.
