Nemours is seeking a Director of Nursing to join our Nemours Children's Hospital Ambulatory team in Orlando, Florida.

This position provides leadership for all nursing and other clinical associates at NCSC-Orlando, including strategic planning, ensuring evidence-based care delivery, benchmarked quality patient service and outcomes and impetus for change when necessary. This position reports directly to the Site Practice Administrator, works collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer, Department Chairs, Administrators, Nursing Leadership and other Medical/Administrative leadership across the system. This position role models the Nemours Standards of Behavior and actively supports the Nemours Mission, Vision and Values.
Assure the nursing staff provides quality, family-centered patient care through setting the criteria for entry into practice, making the final determination regarding hiring new staff, monitoring the privileging process, ensuring job descriptions reflect national standards of nursing practice, overseeing the evaluation process, and being the principal participant in all corrective action, counseling or termination of any nurse or other clinical staff within their reporting line to ensure competencies are maintained.
Will participate in sustaining the continued growth of a community-based model of pediatric nursing care and setting community standards for pediatric nursing.
Will assure nursing staff compliance with regulatory agencies while maintaining an overview of the nursing services within the organization and evaluate the effectiveness of those services as they impact and relate to patient care within the organization and the community.
Will make decisions on the allocation, distribution and assignment of nursing and clinical resources, as well as the adequacy of support for clinical nursing activities.
Will participate in all dialogue and decision-making regarding budget and salary structure for nursing in collaboration with the NCSC-Orlando Site Practice Administrator and Chief medical Officer.
Promotes the ongoing development of Nursing Shared Governance to maximize the engagement of Nurses in evidence based Nursing practice.
Encourages the development of research ideas and testing research hypotheses in the delivery of care of pediatric patient populations, modifying Nursing practice based on research findings as appropriate and sharing such to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of pediatric healthcare through publication and presentation at appropriate seminars, meetings, and symposiums
Will promote integration of pediatric nursing practice, education and research within the organization and community through negotiation of nursing academic affiliations, creation of a learning environment for nursing students and participation in inter-institutional nursing forums.
Conducts rounding and performance management for direct reports on a monthly basis and ensure appraisals for direct reports, assures that performance appraisals are conducted for all nursing and other clinical staff in accordance to NCSC-Orlando expectations.
Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor.
MSN Degree required; Active pursuit of a Master of Science in Nursing can substitute for initial education requirements with the understanding that graduation is required within a specific time frame for continued employment
Current Florida Nursing license required
Valid American Heart Association BLS required upon hire
Minimum of 5 years serving in a Nursing Leadership role. Pediatric Nursing leadership in an Ambulatory Clinic setting preferred.
