The Corporate IS Department is seeking a dynamic and talented Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist-Pharmacy.
The Senior Informatics Specialist develops, implements, supports and maintains medication and pharmacy related components of the new Core Clinical Patient Care System for the UHS Acute Care Hospitals. Interacts closely with the Corporate Information Technology (IT) Pharmacy Analyst team to maximize functionality and patient safety of our clinical systems. Coordinates and supports Acute Care Hospitals with implementation, upgrades and training on all existing Pharmacy related technology platforms (including Siemens, Pyxis and web based programs). Develops a testing plan and validation of all programs related to medication management and pharmacy prior to implementation. Supports the Corporate Manager Pharmacy Informatics & Technology in development of new programs as well as to maintain, optimize and expand current technology platforms and programs. Works with Acute Care Hospitals to ensure all programs related to Medication distribution and safety are up to date and functioning properly.
Key Responsibilities include:
Plans, reviews and oversees implementation of activities, resources and timelines required to complete systems development projects, systems administration, and reporting.
Provides leadership in development, establishing ownership and maintaining work teams.
Provides expertise and guidance to IT in the management of pharmacy and medication use databases, master files and tables.
Acts as IT Clinical management liaison to other IT departments as well as Corporate and Facility leadership and stakeholders. Oversees standardization of clinical system content.
Uses pharmacy practice experience to guide information services and clinical departments to configure systems properly to ensure patient safety.
Manages initiatives to promote effective design, development and implementation of clinical information system improvements.
Supports Pyxis equipment and procedures.
Supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians as the resource for requests related to EMR and pharmacy system changes and additions.
