JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures, charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information is completed and accurate. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol; cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records, ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include; respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly. Schedules patients for procedures Calls patients on lab results and medication changes. Fill out disability forms, HH orders, Insurance forms for doctors Assists doctors with admitting patients Books, coordinates and reschedules patients appointments. Relays necessary messages to staff. Greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant, and helpful manner. Provides necessary instructions/directions. Informs appropriate department/person of patient's arrival. Verifies necessary information and records in the medical record. Uses computer system to generate information necessary for billing. Updates patient information, collects co-pays, provides any necessary forms needing completion, obtains signatures as necessary. Maintains and updates current information on physician's schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed. Answers telephone, screen calls, takes messages, and provides information. Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing. Assembles new patients' charts for next day visit. Updates profile on all patients. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include; respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly.
