We currently have a position available for a Per Diem Sr. Technician/Inpatient Coder Del Amo Hospital. Del Amo Hospital is a 166-bed behavioral health facility that is located in the South Bay area of Los Angeles.

This position is responsible for the timely coding and abstracting of medical records in accordance with the current principles of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines using Quadramed/Quantum encoding system. This position will also resolve technical coding and sequencing problems with the HIM manager and or CFO, and is responsible for accurate abstracting of patient data into the AS-400 computerized data base system in accordance with the department policies and guidelines. This position is also responsible for monitoring the unbilled report (AR-Report) and maintaining compliance within the established turn-around time of 5-days, and performing clerical and/or technical medical record duties.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Informs and educates the medical staff and clinicians regarding documentation within the chart as it pertains to The Joint Commission, Title XXII, Medicare and hospital By-laws.
Informs and educates the medical staff on the latest coding issues and documentation in order to have an accurate diagnosis within the medical record.
Accurately abstracts patient data into the AS-400 computerized data base system in accordance with the department policies and guidelines.
Maintains the interim billing, inputting data into the AS-400 within a 10-day period.
Monitors the unbilled report (AR-Report) and maintains compliance within the established turn-around time of 5-days.
Always maintains abstracting of discharged records within five (5) days of discharge, enters data accurately into Med Series computer to ensure bill closing within (5) days.
Coordinates with the business office personnel for coding issues and billing.
Interfaces with the medical staff in order to acquire the required data to complete the interim and final coding of charts.
Organizes materials and assures all records for the month have been abstracted properly with no errors before requesting monthly report.
Demonstrates a consistent level of accuracy and a steady level of productivity as evidenced by timely and accurate receipt of monthly reports from AS-400.
