The Utilization Review Coordinator performs duties and responsibilities required in managing the concurrent and retrospective internal utilization review of patient care services. Serves as clinical liaison among managed care companies, primary care physicians, referral sources for patient population. Verifies and negotiates benefits. Obtains authorization for appropriate mental health services. Facilitates and coordinates the care of patients in all levels of care to promote quality clinically and cost effective patient outcomes. Conducts daily case supervision and level of care assessments based on medical necessity criteria. Makes level of care decisions utilizing clinical tools and medical necessity criteria to ensure the appropriate clinical setting and in the most cost effective manner.
